Our Sports & How We Organize Them
We offer many sports -- from Association Football to Ultimate. And we specialize in each of them. How does that work?
Those who head a given sport at Play Vancouver are experts in the sport. Some of us have represented our country and/or played professionally. Others have played at a high amateur level. And all of us possess coaching and/or referee certifications in one or more sports.
Each of us is also passionate and meticulous when it comes to organizing sporting events. We love adding a 'pro' or 'national' feel to a session or to a league; but all the while the emphasis remains on the simple stuff: on providing a safe, welcoming and fun environment in which to get/stay fit and to meet new, likeminded people.
We particularly specialize in helping pure beginners to learn a new sport. We also believe that our leagues for intermediate and advanced players are superior -- and in myriad ways -- to what you'll find elsewhere.
Join a league, a weekly drop-in game, or a beginner's clinic. Our soccer programs, running since 2009, have brought us an MLS award and other accolades.
We run weeknight and weekend drop-in games (outdoors), and summer tournaments for intermediate to advanced players.
Our Ultimate program is for beginners only. Sessions begin with a 30-minute lesson, emphasizing a specific skill. Then each team plays two short matches in a fun and friendly league format.
We offer several sports in addition to what you see above - e.g., Touch Rugby, Basketball, and Volleyball. To find out more, please visit our Registration page.
Bar-Games & Lawn-Games
We run bar-game nights (e.g., shuffleboard, darts, and the Canadian 1860s classic, crokinole) and lawn-game days (bocce, croquet, petanque). These usually occur as free, drop-in events.
Keep your eye out for the occasional tournament night with bar-tab prizes. Entry-fees apply on tournament nights. Book your spot on our Registration page.
